When Davis County Hospital called on CEC, it was looking for a way to secure its OB area. Located in the middle of the hospital, several doors lead in and out of the area. With infant security being a priority, the hospital needed a cost-effective solution to secure the space from unauthorized guests.

Customer Needs

Davis County Hospital’s OB area is located in the middle of the facility, and several doors lead in and out of the space. With infant security being a high priority, the hospital was looking for a cost-effective solution to secure the space from intruders and unauthorized guests.

When CEC started working with Davis County Hospital on this project, the organization needed:

  • An economical way to monitor who enters and exits the OB area of the hospital.
  • A security system that would pass an inspection by the state fire marshal.
  • Controlled access to the OB department. 
     

Solution

After CEC designed and engineered a security plan involving video surveillance and card access, it was approved by the state fire marshal. Soundmasking was also included as part of this project (in OB, ED, and acute care departments), offering increased patient satisfaction and confidentiality.

When the project was complete, Davis County Hospital received:

  • An IP-based video system that ties into an existing voice and data network infrastructure.
  • An integrated solution comprised of nine cameras, 21 card access readers, 27 soundmasking devices, and multiple wireless devices.
  • A security system that’s integrated with the facility’s fire alarm system. In the event of a fire alarm, doors will unlock.
  • Soundmasking systems that make the environment more tolerable for patients, and more confidential for doctors and nurses who need to discuss patient care nearby
